Mad for Modcloth!

I've been ill for three days. On the plus side I got to miss school and on the even plusser side I discovered the wonderful Modcloth website! Its jam-packed with vintage and retro style clothes and also some GENUINE vintage things but you have to get in there quickly if you  want to buy them as most of the time they are one-offs and there are millions of people also after some vintage clothes of their own. Each item of clothing has a quirky title and description, also an idea of what you can wear it with. At the moment I'm in love with the "A little bit of Indie Rock" dress, the "Rum and Raisin Cupcake" skirt and the "Happy Hootenanny" skirt (after my owl obsession). I love ALL their rompers and just wish I could own every item of clothing there. The only downside is, it is an American website so it takes American money. Sometimes, being British sucks. Maybe I can find a way to exchange the money? I hope and pray there is a way to get me some Modcloth clothes! Go to this web address to find out more.www.modcloth.com

N.E.R.D-Not Even Remotely Dorky

Sorry for not posting anything for a while. I feel like a nodding dog in a fridge (ill) and the evil MOCK EXAMS are quickly approaching at a speed which is far to fast for my liking. So I decided to have a little bit of fun and, in a way, celebrate  the weeks of Mocks I have in February (if that is humanly possible). I am dressing nerd style to get me in the mind set of my fellow intellectual bad-asses. Well, it won't be hard for school seeing as it is law for us walk around with our ties done up to our chins but for any free time I'll get I am going full out granny knits and thick rimmed glasses B>) Oh nerds, how I love you...

Odd Shoes?

Watching the Golden Globe awards last night, I thought that Helena Bonham Carter's outfit was wonderful! She really stood out from everybody who were wearing the usual metallic coloured  prom dresses and silky hair with a bright Vivienne Westwood dress (makes me wish I could afford her clothes), sun glasses and tight curls. But what I noticed the most was her odd shoes. They were the same shoes style just in different colours (red and green to match her dress). Though she isn't the first to try this look. A little while ago, in a magazine, I saw a picture of Pixie Lott in the back of a taxi also wearing odd shoes (gorgeous ones with bows on that were red and black). Could this be a new statement trend? I may have to try this out myself....

I made my snood!

For the lovely people on Polyvore who wanted to know how to make one:

 1) Take an old scarf or your chosen scarf for making the snood. Mine was about 90-100 cm long and 30cm wide.
2) Lie it out on the table with the "right" side (side without the label) facing upwards towards the ceiling.
3) Fold in half. The "wrong" side (side with label) should be facing the ceiling now.
4) Choose a thread which coordinates with your scarf. I chose black as you can't see it against the deep purple of my scarf.
5)Start to sew running stitch about an inch from the edge of the scarf so that you sew the two sides together. If you don't know how to do running stitch see here: http://www.embroiderersguild.com/stitch/stitches/running.html
6) Sew all the way up to the top. To finish of do 3 stitches (on top of each other) and a knot to hold. The two sides should now be sewn firmly together. Pull gently to check.
7)Turn your snood inside out so that the label is on the inside of the scarf.
8) Et voila! Enjoy your snood.

Snoods

I noticed the trend on snoods recently and I thought I could make my own by using one of my mum's old scarves and sewing the ends together. It'll have to be a wide, long one obviously or it won't work...Cross fingers it does!

First Post of my First Blog...

New to this kind of stuff...I've been interested in fashion for a while but now I'm really getting into it and pushing myself not to just walk out in my hoodie and jeans combo. Anyways, I mentioned to my dad that I was interested in fashion, like designing and writing and I he recently got me to review some pictures one of his friends had taken. I found it really interesting and I kind of want to take it further. I'll post pictures and slideshows in the future but I'm only just getting started. Well...bye for now! :) Lots of Love, Beth x
